Seven Ridgeback Angels

The brown eyes looked up pleading

Please don’t leave us here alone

The rescue people knew the rules

For a mix there is no home

But in a place as big as Texas

There should be room for every dog on their own

There were seven Ridgeback Angels

At the Texas Rescue Ranch

They were looking for a home

That could be called their own

A lady came from Corpus

And took one Angel home

Only six puppies waited

In the hot Texas sun

Each little Ridgeback praying

To be the next chosen one

A call came from Houston

And another prayer was answered

There were seven Ridgeback Angels

At the Texas Rescue Ranch

Now just five were waiting to move on

To that home they could call their own

Saturdays were spent at Petsmart

Two more Angels found homes and did depart

There were seven Ridgeback Angels

At the Texas Rescue Ranch

Now three still wait in the noonday sun

They dream of who will be next, to go forever on

What lucky family will know the joy and fun

Of having a Ridgeback Angel of their very own.

Many weeks and Saturdays passed

And one by one each Ridgeback Angel

Found the home that would be their last

Furever, with their very own human Angel

This story is not over

The tail not fully told

There are many more Ridgeback Angels

Each still looking for a home

Could you be the one to have and hold?

A Ridgeback Angel of your very own?
