Get Involved…

Volunteer

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things that you can do for yourself and the dogs. There are multiple ways to volunteer:

Spend time with the dogs

We have a very small staff that works almost 24/7 caring for the dogs.  Although we know each dog personally, we cannot possibly spend enough time with each one of them.

This is where volunteers come in.  You can provide a valuable service by playing with, walking, or just cuddling one or more of the dogs.  We will match you with one or more dogs and let you enjoy the day.  This is also a great way to find your next companion!

Assist with Rescue Ranch repairs/maintenance

For those of you that don't necessarily want to be up close and personal with the dogs, there are plenty of things to do around the Rescue Ranch! You can help clean the kennel. You can help with laundry.  You can help refill water buckets.  If you're into more physical activities, we can always use help mowing play yards, raking leaves, or repairing fences. We have something for everyone!

Foster

Fostering is a very important way to help a dog. Fostering allows a dog to become familiar with the home setting prior to being adopted.  This makes the transition into their forever home much easier!

Fostering does come with one major risk known as Foster Failure.  Foster Failure is where the dog and family become so bonded that the foster family adopts the dog and becomes the dog's forever home.

We know letting go of a foster dog can be very hard but always remember we have PLENTY of other dogs who need fosters!

Some things you should know about fostering a TIRR Dog:

~ The application process for fostering is the same as the process for adopting.  You can find out more about that process here.
~ When fostering, TIRR Rescue takes care of all expenses.  This includes food and vet care.

~ Though not a requirement, TIRR Rescue does ask that you help a foster dog with socialization while in your care.  One of the main reasons fostering is so helpful is that it allows the dog to get out of the shelter environment and used to new places and situations.  If you'd like some more information on socializing a foster dog, feel free to contact us below.

If you are ready to become a foster parent (or family), please download the foster application.  If you have any questions, please use the contact form below.
