Cocoa is looking for a new family. She is new to our program and as you can see, she has had a period of neglect in her past. Cocoa just had an evaluation at Justin Animal Hospital to find that she is generally in good shape for a dog her age (10-11 years old). A couple of things noted are elbows and kidneys. She has elbow dysplasia and at this age it is not a good idea to have surgery. She is taking joint supplements and pain medication as needed. A senior blood panel indicated that Cocoa would need to be on KD dog food which is good for kidney function. She likes her food and is beginning to put on a little weight. She is a happy girl and offers a statement about herself below. If you look closely, she has a ridge on her neck.
I’m Cocoa -
I love affection, especially scratches behind my ears. I will ask for them by laying my head in your lap. If you don’t notice, I can help grab your attention by putting my paws there. I am respectful though; I don’t jump on the couch. Once you show me attention, I am quick to settle down for a snooze. Probably one of the cutest characteristics is my perky, yet floppy ears. They are so expressive! I am just an all-around happy & sweet, good girl.
